Volta Greentech receives additional funding for methane-reducing feed additive

Swedish firm Volta Greentech received €1.7M ($1.97M) in a new funding round led by Axel Johnson to support continued R&D as well as the upcoming market launch of Lome, a feed additive designed to reduce methane emissions from ruminant livestock. Cargill mycotoxin report highlights animal production risks

Mycotoxin pressure remains a persistent and performance-limiting challenge for producers globally, according to Cargill Micronutrition & Health Solutions in its 2025 Global Mycotoxin Report. Deoxynivalenol (DON) remains the most prevalent and highest global performance risk, with 53% of analyses above performance thresholds. Forty-seven percent of samples tested contained three or more contaminants, reinforcing the need for comprehensive risk management strategies.

How AI is learning to read dairy herd data

From predicting lameness to estimating milk production per cow, artificial intelligence is starting to change how dairy farms use their herd data, said Jeffrey Bewley, dairy analytics and innovation scientist at Holstein Association USA, at the Professional Dairy Producers conference in Madison. AI technology could flag cows that may be developing problems before they are visible, while forecasting milk production months in advance could influence future breeding strategies.

ProImmune and Roslin Institute to collaborate on animal immunology

ProImmune Ltd., a developer of immunological reagents and services, announced a collaboration with the University of Edinburgh’s Roslin Institute to advance veterinary immunology research through validation of binders in porcine, bovine, avian and salmonid species. Data on validated binders will be made available through the Immunological Toolbox website, an initiative of the Roslin and Pirbright Institutes dedicated to expanding tools available to the veterinary immunology research community.
